!!New Student Introductory Courses!!

Tai Chi Chuan Fundamentals

This introductory course is founded on my teaching philosophy and inspired by a story told by Professor Cheng Man Ching, teacher to Grandmaster William C.C. Chen. He tells of a friend who came to him with an illness and asked him for medical help. Cheng had just a short time to help his friend and while, as one of the premier traditional doctors in Taiwan, he could have offered acupuncture, herbs or other treatments, he decided to teach him the first eight moves of the Yang style form.

The Fundamentals Course will teach you these eight movements plus the chi kung exercises Eight Pieces Of Brocade and The Constant Bear.

Introduction to Chi Kung and Tai Chi Chuan

This two hour course is excellent for any one with little or no experience with chi kung or tai chi. In two hours students will learn:

  • Constant bear. A fundamental of chi kung is that energy does not pass through tight muscles. This simple exercise helps relax both body and mind, loosening the joints and releasing tension in the muscles.
  • Eight Pieces Of Brocade. Created over 1000 years ago by a Chinese general to keep his troops healthy, this easy to learn chi kung routine gently stretches and lengthens the muscles and tendons and stimulates the meridians and internal organs.
  • Introduction to Tai Chi Chuan. Students will also be introduced to the principles of tai chi chuan and body mechanics as taught by Grand Master William C.C. Chen.
